NEW FOCUS

After 18 years with the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, 8 of which I served on the board of the SA branch, I felt the season had ended and that is now time to rekindle and focus my efforts on assisting the Messianic believers in Israel. I founded the David and Jonathan ministry in 1996 in order to bring local prayer groups in contact with individual believers in Israel. This proved cumbersome because the individual believers could not find the time to correspond on a regular basis with their partners in SA, given the difficult times they were experiencing.

The David & Jonathan Foundation, as it is now called, will now focus on partnering with congregations in Israel. These congregations have the manpower and resources to stay in touch by way of regular newsletters so that the contact can grow. That will mean that contact will be sustainable.

NEED FOR FRIENDSHIP

The Messianic congregations have many needs. However, the biggest need is friendship, prayer and the sense of belonging to the body of Christ (Messiah). The believers are a small minority in Israel. Many times they are persecuted and feel isolated. knowing there are other believers out there that care and stand with them in their trials would be a great encouragement to them.

OPPORTUNITY TO PARTNER

Should your church wish to partner with a Messianic congregation in Israel, D&J will assist you to find a suitable group with whom you can make contact, send reciprocal newsletters, visit each other and, where possible, support them with material blessings.

TWO-WAY BLESSING

Congregations can learn from one another. One area where difficulties arise is the need for discipleship material for the many multilingual immigrants that have accepted Jesus as Messiah. Another area is the need for outreach material for young adults who are being reached by their peers in the congregations. Churches will soon find out what their partner congregation’s specific needs.

• Receiving our D&J newsletter with up to date news from Israel;
• Letting us help you partner with Messianic congregations in Israel, so that you can share in their growth;
• Allow representatives of D&J to speak at your church about God’s calling concerning Israel and the lives of the Messianic believers in these days;
• Identify with the Jewish people by holding the Feasts of the Lord at their appointed times, such as Passover, Pentecost and the Feast of Tabernacles.
• Receive newsletters from the congregation you have partnered with and respond in love;
• Represent D&J in your area and speak on behalf of the aims and objectives of the organization;
