Four Messianic Congregations were the recipients of several thousand Shekels each, of funds from partner churches and private donors in South Africa. The four churches are in Tiberias, Haifa, Karmiel and Netanya. The donations will be used for leadership training among young adults and for the support of Messianic believers that are entering their three year military service in the Israeli defence force. Esther Kruger, one of ur Board Members, who has just returned from Israel with a tour group, visited a number of congregations to determine their needs and to prepare for the March 2010 David and Jonathan Foundation tour to Israel. In the meantime, Francois le Roux of Bellville, a supporter of the David and Jonathan initiative, has just returned from a private tour of Israel where he visited three congregations with a view to determining which congregation would be most suitable for his church to partner with. He spent time with the leadership of each of the congregations concerned and will now report back to his church council. We trust that a meaningful and long-lasting relationship will be born out of these meetings. A D&J member church also reports that closer cooperation is now materialising between them and an organization in Israel that cares for unwed mothers and their babies. The abortion rate is disconcertingly high in Israel and the effort of this organization in helping to save the babies is extremely laudable. They are most grateful for the help coming from this unexpected source in South Africa since the parties were introduced to each other by the David and Jonathan Foundation.
